The Punjab Government has launched a significant initiative by recruiting 7,354 teaching interns under its Higher Education Internship Program. This step aims to address the shortage of teaching staff in government colleges and provide employment opportunities to fresh graduates.
Interns selected under this program will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000. The internship will last for eight months, covering the academic session until 31st March 2024. This move is part of the government's plan to enhance educational infrastructure while supporting transparency and merit in hiring practices.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif applauded the Higher Education Department for ensuring a transparent recruitment process. This initiative highlights the government's commitment to improving education standards and creating opportunities for talented educators.
The Punjab Government has also implemented an e-transfer policy, modernizing the transfer process for college teachers. So far, 962 transfer orders have been successfully processed via an online portal, increasing efficiency and transparency in teacher management.
Looking ahead, the government plans to prioritize merit-based appointments for principals and directors in government colleges. These efforts aim to uplift the quality of education across Punjab, providing a platform for fresh graduates and experienced educators to contribute effectively.
This comprehensive approach reflects the Punjab Government’s dedication to modernizing the education system and creating equitable opportunities for aspiring teachers.
