This Tuesday, private and government medical and dental colleges and universities set their attendance requirement of 90% and a minimum 70% passing marks.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council made this law, and the medical and dental colleges and universities have enforced the newly set law for all students in any session.
The reason for this enforcement is to increase the academic standards of the students of MBBS and BDS programs. Previously the attendance requirement was 74% which has increased to 90%, while the passing marks have also risen to 50% to 70%. The new enforcement has made medical standards more rigorous for new academic sessions.
Recently, the PMDC council meeting approved this decision and a formal notification has been issued to medical and dental colleges across the country.
New policy for self-finance and foreign quota seats has been made by the PMDC, the key points are as follows:
Must have permanent foreign nationality
Pakistani citizen residing abroad (Green Card holders, Iqama holders, and Maple Leaf card holders)
Must complete HSSC or equivalent degree outside Pakistan
Provide pa assing certificate of the last attended institute
Proof of their abroad residency
