Shab-e-Mairaj is a significant religious holiday
The Education Department released this announcement on Friday evening, letting all educational institutions know they should close their doors for the day. The night of ascension holds importance in Islamic History and takes place on the 27th of Rajab in the Islamic Calendar.

On this day the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) miraculously traveled all skies to meet the Almighty from Kaaba to Masjid Aqsa and then to the 7th Sky. There, He also witnessed heavens and hells and talked to Allah Almighty, received divine guidance, presented with the 5 prayers, and saw Jibreel (AS) in his angelic form.

Performed Religious and Community Activities
Now, Muslims believe that this night is to pray and ask for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy flows in abundance. Muslims dedicate extra time to pray, recite the Quran, make dua, and then observe fast. This is solely dedicated to showing gratitude for Allah and asking for endless mercy and forgiveness. This is the spiritual connection between the Almighty and Muslims.
