The Federal Govt has announced to ban on the registration of new medical and dental colleges.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) will no longer register new colleges for medical sciences.
The PMDC Council has approved the band and the applications submitted after 5th January will not be considered.
The application submitted before 5th January will still be reviewed.
The shortage of medical college faculty has led to this decision to new registrations. As of the current date, Pakistan has 121 private medical colleges and 66 public medical colleges. The reason behind this decision is to maintain the standards of medical education in the country and address the professor shortage.
