· Harvard University has expanded its financial aid program.
· The aid is to provide free tuition to students from families earning up to $200,000 per annum.
The initiative will start in the fall of 2025. Previously the income limit was $85,000. The decision is to make higher education more accessible to unprivileged students. According to the new policy, families earning $100,000 yearly will be eligible for this scholarship to meet their tuition, housing, meals, and other expenses. They will also provide winter clothing and travel expenses along with $2000.
Global growing concerns about college affordability, have led Harvard University to expand financial aid for students. MIT and the University of Pennsylvania are also working on scholarships. Harvard University is on the list of top global universities, it has made the university authorities observe accessibility and diversity for low-income students.
Recent enrollment data showed a decline in Black student admissions, aimed to attract a more diverse student body. Approximately $53 billion endowment fund, the university has allocated $275 million to financial aid for 2025.
University President Alan M. Garber stated, “Financial support is key to encouraging a comprehensive academic environment for unprivileged students.
