Sindh Assembly’s PAC Orders Comprehensive Audit Of Education Boards Over Financial And Performance Issues

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Sindh Assembly has mandated the audit of all seven provincial educational boards. The decision is to identify alleged financial manipulation occurring repeatedly over the years 2022 - 2024. The decision is made to solve performance issues within the education system, after rising issues in 9th class results.

Concerns Raised During the PAC Meeting
Many concerns were raised in this meeting and all are mentioned below: 

  1. Financial Irregularities and Mismanagement

 
PAC Chairman Nisar Khuhro was not satisfied with the financial management in all 9 boards of Sindh. The Sindh government is allocating around 2 million annually for free education up to the intermediate level and is concerned with transparency in the allocation of that amount. 
Khusro State, ‘the Sindh boards are facing an accusation of awarding top grades in exchange for money that undermines students’ performance in entry tests’

  1. Result Manipulation Allegations

  • Growing concerns over the integrity of the examination system

  • Top grades have been granted in exchange for financial incentives

  • Demand for an investigation of the marking system 

PAC member Khurram Karim Soomro mentioned former BIEK chairman Amir Qadri, who was removed due to allegations of result tampering.

To address these concerns, auditing of last year is being decided. Chairman Khuhro emphasized that the board's audit will be as rigorous and tough as the special audit conducted for Gorakh Hill.
