Punjab To Use Advanced Technology To Prevent Cheating During Exams

The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has applied face detection technology to control cheating in the 2025 annual matric exams.
This Monday, Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat and Chairman Task Force for Education Muzammil Mehmood, led surprise inspections at sensitive exam centers on Raiwind Road. During the visit, they verified students’ identities using a 3D barcode system, evaluated exam arrangements, and collected student feedback.
Mr. Hayat said, “I admire the supervisory staff for keeping a transparent examination process. Raiwind Road examination centers were previously known for cheating and strict measures have reduced cheating by 90%. This is an unprecedented level of transparency achieved by supervisory staff”

Cheating cases have dropped from 15-20 per day to just 2-3 cases, aiming to meet 100% level of transparency in the coming year. The reforms involved a special monitoring team in Daska, Wazirabad, Gujranwala, and Lahore.
Modernizing the Examination System

For the very first time, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore introduced online roll number slips that are QR coded to streamline exam processes. The QR code allows quick access to personal data and verification of students to minimize the frauds.
To ensure fair duty assignments, the automated system is introduced to deploy checking staff, reduce favoritism, and misconduct.
The Controller of Examinations Zahid Mian, stated, “the technology upgrades are designed to provide a safe and efficient exam experience”
The 2025 matric exams were started on 4th March and will end on 24th March.
