Maryam Nawaz Sharif Launches the ‘Honhaar Scholarship Program’ to Promote Education in Punjab

By offering financial aid to worthy students throughout the province, this program seeks to guarantee their access to high-quality education.
Rs. 130 Billion Initiative to Benefit Students Across Punjab
The scholarship program, which is projected to be worth Rs. 130 billion, is intended to assist students from all of Punjab's districts. The government's dedication to empowering youth through education was reaffirmed at the ceremony when CM Maryam Nawaz gave scholarships to the first group of awardees.
Simplified Application Process with e-Portal
The Punjab government launched an e-portal for the program to make the application procedure simple and transparent. Students can apply online and check the status of their applications through this portal. Over 70,000 students have signed up for the program since its inception, and 30,000 of them were chosen for scholarships this year.
Inclusivity and Equal Opportunities for All Regions
The Chief Minister emphasized that South Punjab accounts for 32% of the scholarship winners, highlighting the inclusive aspect of the program. Furthermore, scholarships have been given to 18,000 female students, demonstrating the program's dedication to advancing gender equality in education. This program is helping students from 50 public sector colleges and 68 districts, including 131 graduates in important fields.
Financial Support to Ease Burden on Families
Families with monthly salaries under Rs. 300,000 would find their financial burden much reduced as the scholarships will cover 100% of tuition fees. Students must register through the official portal for the forthcoming autumn 2024 session and meet academic requirements in order to be eligible.
