Current The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has praised the Punjab Government for upgrading the study quota for the students of Islamabad domicile in Punjab’s public sector medical and dental colleges for the academic year.
According to the PM&DC, this ruling is to demonstrate the dedication of the ruling party to the student’s betterment. It is to guarantee equity and diversity in medical education by reducing the worries of making entry in the first three students from ICT domicile students.
The Punjab government announced that according to clause 11 of the 2024–25 admission policy, the number of seats allotted to ICT students will be reduced to three. That is a matter of great attention. Students are extremely concerned about this and asked the PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj to help them.
The Ministry of National Health Services and other interested parties took action on this complaint and reviewed it under the policy of the Standing Committee on Health. The Punjab Government raised the quota from 3 to 30 seats yearly.
Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj stated that this choice puts student well-being ahead. It encourages more medical students to get fair access to medical education. First it encourages fair access to medical education.
He said that
By increasing the ICT Quota from 3 students to 30 students, we are promoting a balanced approach to medical education to benefit the entire nation."
He praised the Punjab government and cooperative parties involved in this decision. He also emphasized the increasing requirements of action taken when the population is increasing rapidly.
The PMDC expressed hope that this statement will lead to better educational equality nationwide. It also underlined commitment to resolve interprovincial admission policies.
