Special persons and organ donors will get computerized CNIC as the Federal Government has approved important amendments in the National Database and Registration Authority Rules, 2002.
These amendments are made under section 44 of Nadra Ordinance 2000. This decision has been made because of inclusivity, transparent documentation, and recognizing population requirements. For a special person, Nadra will also issue a lifetime valid CNIC. Special citizen (resident or non-resident) to be recognized by federal government or provincial governments. The wheelchair logo is mentioned for lifetime validity (shows the person is handicapped). Nadra will issue Child Registration Certificates or Juvenile Cards for special children. According to rule 18, this card is valid as per the prescribed duration.
This amendment is introduced specially for citizens who have donated their organs or registered as organ donors. These donors must be registered under Donor Registration Authorities. They will be allotted the logo of the organ donor for lifetime validity. Persons who are both organ donors and special persons will be issued with Special Cards for Dual Status. The symbol of the card will be both wheelchair and organ donor.
New schedules and designs are added for updated CNIC and certificates. These amendments mark an important milestone in the government’s effort for inclusivity and easy identification of special persons and donors. This notification will be shared in gazette and implementation will occur right after publication in it.
