PSED Punjab School Education Department introduced new subjects for matric exams. These new LAHORE subjects are providing expanded choices beyond science and humanities groups.
Khalid Naeem Watto announced that the students can opt for subjects of
Science
Agriculture
Information Technology
Entrepreneurship
This is the first time this has happened in the history of 70 years. This is the moment of a significant overhaul in Pakistan by aiming to align new subjects at the matriculation level to compete at the new educational level of the world. These subjects are more practical and career-oriented.
Watto explained this Tuesday, “We introduced these for sections to build students' interest in the chosen field and make future experts of the relevant field. Students will learn the particle of each subject and marks allocation will be 30 for theory and 40 for practical.”
This addition doesn’t require any new hiring but existing staff and will be managed to teach students everything related to the subject added. The Punjab Board will organize training sessions for the existing teaching staff of each school to adopt this modernly designed curriculum. School faculty has computer engineers as teachers in place, and the board will train them to meet the current demands of these subjects.
Total matriculation marks will be 1100 by accommodating new subjects integrated within the existing framework. At the beginning of the 9th class, students will choose their domain and continue for 2 consecutive years of secondary education.
