Chief justice admired Lahore’s Orange Line Metro Project

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar has said on Wednesday that Orange Line Metro train project is a gift for citizens of Lahore. He has told to the contractors of Orange Line Train to complete project in time. He further said that he would like to travel through Orange Line train on the inauguration of project. Chief justice was addressing to a bench of three-members in Supreme Court. He said all this during his address. He stated that it will be a contempt of court if project does not complete in time.

Contractor of the Project said to the Court:

Contractor of the project Naeem Bukhari said that they are not being given payment. Saqib Nisar said that Lahore Development Authority (LDA) should pay cheques to the contractor with bank guarantee. Contractor said that Chinese company has to finish some interface work first then we shall start work on project. Case hearing delayed until 16th January 2019.

Provincial Minister, Aleem Khan declined the rumors that his Government is ignoring Orange Line project. He further said that we shall complete project in time up to July of this year 2019. He added that as Rs.300 billion have been consumed on project therefore project cannot be terminated now. Aleem Khan said that Nawaz Sharif was a king and king of previous Government has given us burden of debts which we have to pay back. He added that our Government will have to spend Rs.120 annually on Orange Line Metro project for next five years.
